State police had been busy over the 4th of July vacation weekend.
Over the four-day vacation weekend of July 2nd by means of the 5th, troopers throughout the state made 503 DUI arrests and issued 8,935 rushing tickets. 690 crashes had been investigated, and 9 of these had been deadly crashes, killing 9 individuals and injuring 195. 58 of the crashes had been alcohol associated and 4 of the deadly crashes had been linked to alcohol use.
State Police in Troop A, which covers most of Indiana and Westmoreland together with Cambria and Somerset counties, made 29 DUI arrests and issued 649 rushing tickets. 1,206 visitors stops had been made, and police investigated 34 crashes. There have been no reported fatalities within the crashes investigated by state police, however sixteen individuals had been injured. Six of the crashes had been alcohol associated.
Police in Troop A additionally issued 164 seat belt warnings, 33 seat belt citations and one quotation for little one passenger security seat violations.
