A man from Penn Yan was accused of driving while intoxicated (DWI) after police pulled him over in the Yates County village. Officers noted that Bradley Smith’s car had an expired inspection, which prompted them to stop him on South Avenue. The police spotted several signs of intoxication in Smith during the stop. After failing the standardized field sobriety tests, the 65-year-old was taken into custody for DWI. He was then moved to the Yates County Public Safety Building, where a chemical breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of .11 percent. Smith now faces charges of DWI, drunk driving, and driving an uninspected vehicle and will have to answer these charges in the Village of Penn Yan Court.
