Rapper GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, has been charged with driving under the influence in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The 24-year-old Memphis-based artist was arrested early Tuesday. According to reports, she was charged with various offences such as possessing an open container and disobeying a traffic control device.
The news of her arrest was first reported by TMZ. The report says she was arrested by the Suwanee Police Department and later released after posting a bail of $1,956.
According to police records, GloRilla was stopped by a police officer around 4 a.m. EDT. The officer reportedly smelled marijuana and alcohol during the stop. Even though GloRilla reportedly admitted to drinking that night, she insisted she could drive.
GloRilla rose to prominence nationally in 2022 with her hit song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” Her 2022 track, “Tomorrow 2″ featuring Cardi B climbed to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Suwanee Police Department and a representative for GloRilla were contacted by Billboard for further comment. Despite her run-in with the law, the rapper was active on social media Wednesday promoting her newest song “Wanna Be,” which features Megan Thee Stallion and is from her new mixtape “Ehhthang Ehhthang.”
GloRilla plans to join Megan Thee Stallion on the Hot Girl Summer Tour, which commences on May 14 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Before the tour, however, GloRilla has a few solo shows lined up, including a performance in Macon, Georgia, on April 20 at the Atrium Health Amphitheater. Other solo dates include a concert in Savannah on April 27, and in Columbia, South Carolina, on May 10 before she moves on to Minnesota.
