David Bonilla Charged with Fatal DUI in I-95 Crash – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man is charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence following a fatal car accident on I-95 in South Philadelphia last weekend. The charges were issued while the woman who was tragically killed in the incident was being commemorated by her family.

The accused, David Bonilla, 44, is tagged as responsible for the April 14, 2024, crash that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman named Thaduba Turay, as per statements by her family and friends.

As stated by the Pennsylvania State Police, the fatal accident occurred at around 2:40 a.m. last Sunday when a car, driving southward in the northbound lanes of I-95—between the Walt Whitman Bridge and Columbus Boulevard—collided head-on with the car of Turay which was travelling northbound.

Authorities believe that the man who was going in the opposite direction was possibly drunk during the accident. He sustained injuries and was rushed for treatment at a nearby hospital.

Bonilla, a Philadelphia resident, was presented to court on Tuesday evening and was charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, DUI, and reckless endangerment, among other charges. He has been detained under a $750,000 bail.

According to online court records, no lawyer has been listed to represent Bonilla.

Turay, who was the eldest sibling in a family of three and a nursing student at Cheyney University, is remembered through a fundraising page created in her honour.
