A Hillsboro woman, aged 58, was apprehended on suspicions of drunk driving following a solo car collision on Wednesday morning, April 10, on Plattin Road just south of Festus, as per the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when the woman, driving a southbound 2016 Ford Mustang, failed to navigate a curve correctly, causing the vehicle to swerve off the left side of the road and hit a tree, stated the report.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed by the Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South, located in South St. Louis County. After receiving treatment, she was released, said a spokesperson for the hospital. The highway patrol took her into custody at 12:50 p.m. on suspicions of drunk driving, and she remained in the hospital till her release, according to the report.
Despite the severity of the crash, she had her seat belt on at the time of the accident, noted the patrol. The car, however, suffered significant damage. The woman’s identity hasn’t been disclosed and will only be if she’s formally charged in the case. As per the latest update on Saturday afternoon, April 13, no charges had been filed against her.
