Man Arrested for DUI, CDS Possession in Leonardtown

On April 11, 2024, in Leonardtown, MD, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 24000 block of Point Lookout Road following reports of an obstruction in the northbound lane caused by a stationary vehicle. Upon their arrival, they found the car’s only occupant, the driver, in a state of sleep while the vehicle was still running.

The officers identified the driver as 39-year-old Jeffrey Neil Shade from Hollywood, MD. They noticed apparent signs of impairment, which led them to administer standardized field sobriety tests. Shade failed these tests, prompting his arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Following a search, the deputies discovered that Shade was in possession of crack cocaine which was hidden on his person. As a result, he was further charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, excluding cannabis.

Shade was later transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center where he is waiting for his bond hearing.
