Habersham County, Georgia saw police deputies arrest a suspect on St. Patrick’s Day, who was allegedly drunk driving and initiated a high-speed pursuit. The 20-year-old suspect, Noah Park, is facing several charges related to the incident, which occurred on Sunday night, off Dicks Hill Parkway.
According to officials, the pursuit began with Park, in a black Ford Maverick, and a ranger from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. When the ranger lost sight of Park, deputies were informed of his location off Hazel Creek Road and Carl Loudermilk Road by a caller.
The chase resumed along Hazel Creek Road, moved onto Camp Creek Road, and then entered the southbound lanes on Ga. 365. Deputies confirmed that Park switched to the northbound lanes and lost control of his truck while trying to turn onto Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway.
Upon losing control, Park ended up on a roadside embankment where deputies apprehended him. The sheriff’s office described the pursuit as a “high-speed” chase, but did not disclose the maximum speeds reached.
The Georgia State Patrol ascertained that Park was under the influence while driving. His charges in Habersham County include fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, driving in the wrong direction on a divided highway, failing to yield, and two violations of stop sign regulations.
Habersham County Jail records revealed that as of Monday morning, Park had not yet been booked.
