A Monroe woman was killed on Wednesday night after a driver, suspected of being under the influence, swerved across the center line and collided with her minivan head-on. The tragic incident took place on U.S. 2 in the vicinity of Snohomish. The 23-year-old male, who was driving a Toyota Highlander westward, crashed into the woman’s Toyota Sienna, which was going east. The woman, aged 55, sadly lost her life at the scene. Following the collision, the man was taken to the Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett as the police began a DUI investigation. The impact resulted in both vehicles being totaled and caused a closure of U.S. 2 for five hours.
