Florida Man Faces DUI Charge for Driving into Waterway

According to Miami Beach police, a man is facing a DUI charge after driving his car into a waterway in South Florida on Easter Sunday. The vehicle was found submerged in the South Pointe Park inlet in Miami Beach; the video footage, obtained by NBC affiliate WTVJ, depicted only the back of the vehicle near the surface. Fire crews inspected the vehicle to ascertain if there were any additional passengers.

The driver, 22-year-old Yandeivy Chavez Dominguez, was found sitting with wet clothes on a nearby sidewalk. He confessed to the police that he had been drinking. Chavez Dominguez was then subjected to a field sobriety test, resulted in his arrest and detention at the Miami Beach Police Department.

After his breath test samples revealed a level of alcohol twice the legal limit, he was charged with DUI. His bail has been set at $1,000 by WTVJ. Beach tow trucks subsequently removed the vehicle.
