Ex-NFL Marshawn Lynch Settles Las Vegas DUI Case

The post was made on February 22, 2024, at 06:45h and had the same update time. The news centres around ex-pro gridiron star Marshawn Lynch, who will evade a DUI conviction and potential imprisonment if he fulfils an arrangement between lawyers in a Las Vegas court.

The agreement that Lynch, aged 37, negotiated obligates him to attend a traffic course, pay a fine amounting to $1,140, serve 200 hours in community service, participate in a victim impact panel, undergo an alcohol evaluation, and steer clear of legal problems for a year. This was all according to an Associated Press report. Provided that he adapts to these requisites, his DUI charge will be diminished to reckless driving per several news outlets. As part of the bargain, charges of not maintaining his lane and operating an unregistered vehicle were also dismissed.

Following a vehicle accident near the Las Vegas Strip on August 9, 2022, Lynch was found to have a blood alcohol content of .18, exceeding the state’s legal limit of .08%, as noted by ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith. Despite this, Lynch’s representatives dismissed claims of him driving while inebriated.

He was apprehended while sleeping in an incapacitated 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, parked in downtown Las Vegas. Lynch is ordered to appear again in a Las Vegas courtroom in May, as reported by TMZ Sports.

This isn’t Lynch’s maiden engagement with law enforcement; he previously pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run incident in 2008 and had a DUI charge reduced to reckless driving in 2012. He conceded guilt on this reduced charge.

Lynch, during his NFL career, was part of three different teams over 12 seasons, retiring in 2019. After his gridiron era, he was reportedly appointed a BetMGM brand ambassador.
