In Salt Lake City, a suspect accused of hitting a pedestrian while under the influence and trying to escape the scene was restrained by a bystander. Authorities were alerted to the incident shortly after midnight on Saturday. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Julian Navarrete, reportedly fled the scene with his vehicle, which had pinned the victim against a wall. A witness managed to catch Navarrete and held him until police arrived to apprehend him. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with a broken femur and a large cut on the same leg. Officials noted Navarrete had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. He also seemed to reek of alcohol. Navarrete was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident involving injury, not having a valid license, failing to stay in his lane, obstructing justice, and refusing a chemical test.
