Law enforcement officers suspect a 27-year-old woman was driving under the influence when she hit and harmed a man in Old Town Victorville, while driving a Kia Soul.
Victorville’s sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 10:32 pm on Sunday, reporting a man had been hit by a vehicle near Seventh and D streets’ junction. Arriving at the scene, they discovered a 38-year-old man who had been hit by a 2016 model Kia Soul, sustaining a head injury in the process. He was taken to a local hospital, however, no details about his status were released.
The deputies identified the driver as Teresa Navarrete, a resident of Apple Valley and found evidence suggesting she was under the influence at the time of the accident. Navarrete was subsequently arrested and taken to the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. She is being held on suspicion of causing bodily harm while driving under the influence, having a blood alcohol level over 0.08%, and driving with a suspended license while intoxicated.
Currently, Navarrete is in the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, with bail set at $250,000, as per sheriff’s booking records.
