A motorist was apprehended on suspicion of DUI following a crash into an elementary school playground in Downey on Thursday. Footage caught on camera revealed the fast-moving SUV colliding into a white vehicle parked on the roadside near the school. A woman and a child were spotted standing a few inches away from the parked car. The SUV broke the Gallatin Elementary School fence and drove onto the playground. High-speed noises caught the attention of Gaby Enciso, a neighbor, noting how usual it is to have speedy drivers in the area. The arrested driver was escorted to the hospital in an ambulance. Fortunately, the near-by standing child escaped uninjured, whereas the woman incurred minor bruises but didn’t require hospitalization.
