Day 14: Wanted Fugitive for Probation Violation, DUI, Endangerment | The Daily Courier

We’re now on the 14th day of Yavapai Silent Witness’s CATCH 22 Program. Today, law enforcement in Yavapai County is seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down fugitive Shayne Takala.

A wary citizen reported reckless driving to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office in December 2022. It was indicated that the vehicle was swerving in its lane and hitting the guardrail on E Beaver Creek Road. The person continued to track the car until it halted in the Montezuma Well area. When deputies reached the scene, they found Shayne Akala in the driver’s seat, exhibiting symptoms of impairment. He was subsequently apprehended for an escalated DUI and endangerment.

Akala was later found guilty of these crimes and sentenced to serve time in the Arizona Department of Corrections. After his release in April 2023, a probationary period of seven years was set.

However, he has failed to adhere to his probation’s terms and conditions, which has resulted in a nationwide extradition warrant being issued for his arrest.

For information leading to Takala’s capture, Silent Witness is offering a $1,000 monetary incentive. To qualify for the reward, you need to call Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232 or provide a tip at yavapaisw.com. Please note that your identity will remain anonymous.
