DWI Charges after Car Crashes into Farmingdale Restaurant

A woman from Massapequa was apprehended by Nassau County police after she crashed her vehicle into a parked car in Farmingdale while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place last Friday, causing both her car and the parked vehicle to careen into a local Chinese food restaurant.

The woman, Lauren Potter, 39, was subsequently charged with DWI and third-degree assault by the Nassau County Police Department.

Police reports indicate that the crash took place near the Great Wall Kitchen, located at 47 Boundary Avenue, around 9:35 p.m. Potter was driving a 2011 Mercedes-Benz northbound on North Broadway when the accident occurred. After veering off the road, she struck a parked 2018 Toyota before both cars smashed through the restaurant’s storefront.

A 51-year-old woman, a restaurant customer, acquired a cut to her hand as a result of the crash, while Potter sustained an ankle injury and complained of chest pain. Both women received medical attention at a hospital. Potter is set to be arraigned once she recovers from her injuries.
