Terry Govan, a 52-year-old former deputy of Lexington County, has been charged with DUI (driving under the influence) and hit-and-run, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. His car crashed near the entrance of his subdivision on Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported from the incident. As a consequence of the crash, Govan, who had worked as a deputy for the county since 2001, was sacked by Sheriff Jay Koon. He appeared before a magistrate judge on Wednesday and was subsequently released from Lexington County Detention Center.
