Single-Car Accident Leads to DUI, Drug Trafficking Charges

A man from Wingfield faced charges for driving under the influence (DUI) and drug trafficking following a single vehicle accident, says reports from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place on Wingfield Church Road around 10:22 PM on Saturday, December 16th. The police report states the man, 68-year-old Scotty Webb, was driving a 2000 Chevy S-10 pick-up truck, which veered off the left side of the road and crashed into a ditch.

Authorities noted Webb’s irregular behavior during their interaction, during which they discovered over 5 grams of methamphetamine on him. As a result, drug involvement was identified as a contributing factor to the accident. Webb was transported to the hospital due to undisclosed injuries.

He was formally charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance, for possessing 2 or more grams of meth. The Chalybeate and Wingfield Fire Departments and the Edmonson EMS responded to the incident.
