Weekend DUI Checkpoint Scheduled

The Pennsylvania State Police have issued a warning that they will be vigilant for drivers who may be unfit to drive due to impairment as part of the New Year’s weekend celebrations. As part of this initiative, a sobriety checkpoint is expected to be set up by Troop M’s Belfast barracks at an undisclosed location in Northampton County anytime between Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30. Despite most bars and restaurants usually closing early on Sundays, extended hours may be in place for New Year’s Eve since it falls on a Sunday this year. Troop M officers, based in Bethlehem, supervise Northampton, Lehigh, and Bucks counties.
