An experienced NYPD officer, George Moore, has handed himself over to Nassau County authorities in response to charges that he injured two people and himself in a drunk-driving incident. 40-year-old Moore had an alcohol level over twice the legal limit and crashed into another vehicle while driving recklessly. If found guilty on all ten counts of his indictment, Moore could face up to 15 years in jail. The incident, which took place on Meadowbrook State Parkway, involved Moore colliding with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, causing injuries to the female driver and to a female passenger in Moore’s car. Moore, who had spent the night drinking before heading to work at the 103rd Precinct station house, was also severely injured. His attorney assured the court that Moore would return for his next hearing on March 14. The judge subsequently released Moore on his own recognizance, but suspended his driving license and ordered pretrial alcohol monitoring.
