Nick Hogan Receives Continuance in DUI Hearing

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan’s son, Nick Hogan, also known as Nicholas Bollea, attended a pre-trial hearing in Pinellas County Court, Florida, on Friday, 23rd February. The hearing, initially set for January 17, was rescheduled. The defense sought and received approval to postpone proceedings further, with the new hearing date slated for April 13.

Bollea was arrested in the early hours of November 18, 2023, in Clearwater, FL, after returning from a bikini contest at his father’s restaurant. Law enforcement paid particular attention to Bollea’s behavior following his refusal to undergo a breathalyzer test post-arrest.

An arrest report indicates that Bollea, driving his 2021 Dodge Ram, approached a traffic stop established by the police and didn’t pull over despite being signaled. He continued to drive at 51 mph in a 40 mph zone. Bollea displayed signs of intoxication, including a strong smell of alcohol, unstable balance, and bloodshot, glassy eyes. Field sobriety tests further confirmed his poor state.

A police bodycam video subsequently posted on YouTube captured Bollea’s initial denial of alcohol consumption. He later claimed the alcohol smell was due to kissing his girlfriend who had been drinking. His father, Hulk Hogan, made his appearance at the scene after the traffic stop.

On December 21, 2023, Bollea’s lawyers requested the court to grant him permission to enter alcohol-serving venues for his work as a DJ, despite a court order prohibiting him from such venues, a condition of his release. The court is yet to rule on this request.

Bollea, who has previously been in the public eye due to appearances on the reality TV show ‘Hogan Knows Best’ on VH-1 and sporadic appearances on WWE and WCW, has given up his right to a speedy trial.

About ten years ago, Bollea was implicated in a driving incident causing permanent disability to family friend John Graziano. In response to Bollea’s recent arrest, Graziano’s mother deemed it disrespectful, considering the grave consequences of his past reckless driving, hoping for Bollea’s change of ways.
