Moss Point Woman Charged with DUI-related Passenger Death

Evelynn Imani Patton, a 21-year-old from Moss Point, has been arrested and charged with aggravated DUI leading to death following a two-car accident in Biloxi, Mississippi. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the intersection of Popps Ferry Road and Tommy Munro Drive.

Both Biloxi Patrol Officers and emergency medical services responded to the scene, where they discovered the occupants of both vehicles injured. The driver of the first vehicle, who was alone in the car, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Patton, who was found injured in the second vehicle, had to be extracted from the wreckage, as did a passenger in the car. Both Patton and the passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Despite attempts to save her life, the passenger was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation by Biloxi Criminal Investigators, a warrant was issued for Patton’s blood to be tested for the presence of substances. The results indicated that Patton’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.

Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain subsequently issued an arrest warrant for Patton for causing a death due to aggravated DUI. She turned herself in on January 26, 2024, and was subsequently transferred to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Her bond was set at $500,000.
