On July 7, 2023, Stinking Creek Road was temporarily closed for an investigation into a car crash. Joshua Lee Hill has been arrested following a homicide indictment related to the accident. Hill was arrested by LaFollette Police due to an indictment requested by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The legal charges are as a result of Hill’s involvement in the July 2023 crash that killed 64-year-old Bill Baird.

Last week, Hill, 30, living on 818 Lowe’s Branch Road, LaFollette, was indicted by the Campbell County Grand Jury on charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular homicide by intoxication and DUI. Reportedly, Baird was driving east on the 400 block of Stinking Creek Road when Hill’s vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head-on into Baird’s car.

The collision occurred around 5:37 pm that Friday. Hill is expected to be arraigned for these charges on February 26 in a criminal court.
