Double Fatal DUI Crash: Fontana Man Arrested near Redlands

A perpetrator of a hit-and-run incident, driving an SUV, got away after causing an accident near Redlands on November 25, 2023, according to the California Highway Patrol. This accident resulted in three people being sent to the hospital, of which two later succumbed to their injuries.

A 26-year-old residing in Fontana was apprehended on suspicion of a DUI-related hit-and-run accident that led to the death of two women and injured another near Redlands last autumn, as revealed by authorities on Tuesday, January 30.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on November 25 when the driver of a black Kia, heading east on San Bernardino Avenue, ran a red light and was hit by a semi heading north on Alabama Street. The driver of the Kia absconded from the scene.

All three passengers from the Kia were critically injured and hospitalized, two of which later died due to their injuries.

One of the victims was identified as 38-year-old Valerie D. Ibarra from Montebello. The information regarding the second victim who died and an update on the surviving victim was not disclosed as of Tuesday.

Roberto AlvarezRodriguez got arrested in Fontana on Friday, January 26. The jail records display that he was apprehended on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter due to intoxication and DUI leading to injuries.
