A resident of Cantonment has been handed a state prison sentence following a hit-and-run incident that severely injured a pedestrian in Pensacola, dated March 23, 2023. Sean James Young faced charges under a plea agreement of fleeing the scene of an accident with grave bodily harm and DUI with significant physical injury. Judge John Simon ordered a 36-month state prison term for Young, followed by a five-year probation period. He was taken into custody immediately after the hearing on Monday. Young was reportedly involved in an accident at East Garden Street and North Jefferson Street, leaving the pedestrian with major pelvic injuries. Despite refusing a breath alcohol test, Pensacola Police reported a strong alcohol odor on Young’s breath and clear signs of impairment.
