DWI Collision: Man Strikes Parked Police Cars in Valley Stream

On Monday, Feb. 12, an incident occurred in Valley Stream as reported by Nassau County Police. Richard Welch, a 59-year-old resident of Climax, Greene County, was driving his black pickup truck south on South Central Avenue around 10 p.m. Unexpectedly, he crashed into two Nassau County Police cars that were parked on the roadside attending to another matter. Following the collision, Welch was transported to a nearby hospital; his current condition is unknown. Although both police vehicles suffered substantial damage, there were no reports of any other injuries. Welch has been accused of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and will face arraignment at the First District Court in Hempstead as soon as his physical condition allows.
