Thursday Night DUI Checkpoint Scheduled

On February 13, 2024, the Downey Police Department communicated their intentions to conduct a DUI checkpoint on a Thursday night at an undisclosed location in Downey. The checkpoint operation is planned to commence at 8 pm and wrap up by 2:30 am. During this period, officers will be scrutinizing drivers for signs of alcohol and drug impairment. Interim police chief Scott Loughner mentioned the significant danger impaired drivers pose to others and lauded preemptive measures that reduce the presence of such drivers on the roads.
