23-year-old woman convicted for 2021 DUI murder crash

A woman aged 23 is due for sentencing for her involvement in a fatal DUI accident on Memorial Day 2021. The woman, Emely Maria Bailon Castaneda, was found guilty of causing an accident while driving under the influence which resulted in one death and one injury. The victims were known as Clinton P and Tiffany C in court proceedings.

The accident, as reported by the California Highway Patrol on News Channel 3, took place on the 31st of May, 2021. The accused was driving a Toyota in the wrong direction on State Route 62 east, east of Dillon Road, and collided with a Volkswagen, consequently killing its driver. Following the incident, the Toyota driver was arrested for DUI.

Court records indicate that Castaneda had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20 and was driving recklessly even though her driving privileges had been withdrawn. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 45-year-old Clinton Palmquist from Landers. Her sentencing is scheduled for March 14th.
