In Jones County, North Carolina, a state trooper named Donald Cuff resigned on the day he was charged with impaired driving during a late-night traffic stop. Cuff was pulled over around 4 a.m. on U.S. 70 by a Jones County deputy sheriff. According to the arrest warrant, Cuff had a blood alcohol concentration level of .16 – double the legal limit in the state. He was additionally charged with speeding. Prior to the incident, Cuff had served as a trooper since 2013, working out of Johnston County, and was part of the elite Caisson Unit, used for law enforcement and state funerals.
