Authorities have unveiled body camera footage that reveals the incident of District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte being stopped on suspicion of impaired driving. The event took place in San Antonio and was released by the city’s police department. The video portrays the DWI arrest of the Texas councilman. Whyte was detained at approximately 11 p.m. on December 29 along Northeast Loop 410, in the North Side. It is reported that during a traffic stop, the officer identified signs indicating that Whyte was allegedly intoxicated. He was pulled over for exceeding the speed limit, clocking 80 mph in a 65 mph zone, and not signaling while lane switching. Furthermore, the on-scene officer testified a strong scent of alcohol from the councilman. Whyte also declined to provide a breath and blood sample, leading the police to obtain a warrant for a blood draw. Following his arrest for DWI, Mayor Ron Nirenberg suspended Councilman Whyte.
