Steuben County in New York is participating in the STOP-DWI High Visibility Enforcement program for the Super Bowl Weekend. The program, as described by Sheriff James Allard, raises awareness about the dangers of impaired driving during major holidays and popular events. Sheriff Allard pointed out that the Super Bowl and its surrounding weekend have often seen an increase in impaired driving incidents. As a risk mitigation measure, concentrated efforts to tackle impaired driving will be implemented in the county from February 9 to 11. The STOP-DWI program is seen by New York State as an effective strategy to highlight the work done by law enforcement to prevent and discourage drunk and impaired driving.
