Seneca County STOP-DWI Officers Recognized – Finger Lakes News

The Seneca County Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee recently conducted a ceremony to honor the best police officers in terms of impaired driving enforcement in Seneca County for the year 2023. Assistant Legislator Craig Pemberton, representing New York State Senator Tom O’Mara, and Chief of Staff Alexis Ogra, representing New York State Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, were present to welcome and laud the award recipients.

The awardees included Trooper Logan Fleming from New York State Police – Waterloo, Officer Devin Hathaway from Seneca Falls Police Department, Deputy Travis Gantz from Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Jacob Webb from Waterloo Police Department, and Trooper Valerie Sgarlata from New York State Police – Junius Ponds. The Police Agency of the Year award was bagged by New York State Police – Waterloo.

Seneca County Sheriff and STOP-DWI Coordinator, Timothy J. Thompson, Jr., praised the efforts of these individuals towards ensuring the safety of the roadways.

The committee pointed out the recent increase in arrests related to impaired driving in Seneca County, and urged the community to make responsible choices while consuming alcohol or other substances that could potentially affect their driving capabilities.
