Friday DWI Charge: 2 Dead in Lubbock Motorcycle Accident

In Lubbock, Texas, the local Police Department has named the two casualties from a motorcycle accident that occurred early Friday morning. The victims were a 23-year-old woman, Cheyanne Perez, and 31-year-old Zackery Lowe.

The accident, which resulted in two deaths, happened at Spur 327. The Lubbock Police Department reported one arrest in connection with the crash.

Authorities said the emergency call came in around 2:08 a.m., reporting an accident at 45th Street and Slide Road.

As per the police, Lowe was riding a motorcycle southbound on the 4600 block of Slide Road, with Perez as his passenger. At the same time, a car driven by Joshua Mendez, 23, was heading north and crashed into the motorcycle. The police pronounced both Perez and Lowe dead at the scene. Mendez reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Mendez was later arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and illegal possession of a weapon. He is currently being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Mendez’s bail amount is still undetermined as of the time this report was written.
