El Paso Police Increase Holiday DWI Patrols

The El Paso Police are looking into a shooting incident that occurred overnight in West El Paso, Texas. Meanwhile, the department plans to heighten their manpower during the holiday season, in efforts to minimize traffic-related accidents and incidents. This is made possible through a grant, and will involve policemen working overtime from December 21 to January 2. The initiative will primarily concentrate on significant traffic and accident-prone areas, with a specific emphasis on Driving While Intoxicated offenses. The Texas Department of Transportation Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) funds this project, although the exact grant sum has not been disclosed by the El Paso Police Department.
