At around 3 am on Sunday, February 25th, an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office noticed a vehicle parked on Tompkins Street in Cortland city with its hazard lights on. The officer thought the car might be broken down and stopped to run a welfare check.
The officer spoke to the driver, 24-year-old Christopher A. DeJohn of Windsor, New York, and determined that DeJohn was under the influence of alcohol.
The authorities subsequently arrested and charged DeJohn with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and having a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or more, both misdemeanors. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing, and then released on his own recognizance.
DeJohn is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court next month.
