John P. Ballou, a 59-year-old resident of Dover Plains in Dutchess County, was apprehended at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17. As reported by Capt. John Watterson from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Ballou was stopped on Route 22 in Dover. Upon conducting an interview, the deputies discovered that Ballou was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. In addition, it came to light that Ballou had previous drunk driving convictions and was wanted for an outstanding warrant in Massachusetts. Accordingly, he was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and being a fugitive from justice. Post processing, Ballou was detained at the Dutchess County Jail with no provision of bail, awaiting his extradition proceedings.
