5th DUI Charge for Man After Traffic Stop – State Update

Delaware State Police have taken Wilson Vazquez-Lopez, a 31-year-old resident of Ellendale, Delaware, into custody for his 5th offense felony DUI. On March 21, 2024, around 10:30 p.m., an officer patrolling observed a green GMC Sierra swerving across lanes on South Dupont Highway near Farmington.

The officer noticed further traffic violations and proceeded to pull over the GMC. The driver, identified as Vazquez-Lopez, appeared intoxicated. Upon performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the officer determined Vazquez-Lopez to be driving under the influence and arrested him.

A background check revealed that Vasquez-Lopez had already been convicted four times for DUI-related offenses. He was taken to Troop 3, where he faced charges including 5th Offense DUI (Felony), Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License, Not Staying within a Single Lane, and Failure to Use a Turn Signal.

Vazquez-Lopez was brought before Justice of the Peace Court 7, and subsequently sent to Sussex Correctional Institution with a cash bond set at $6,200.
