In light of upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivities across New York, both the State Police and local law enforcement agencies plan to intensify patrols in a bid to curb impaired and reckless driving. As part of a statewide STOP-DWI crackdown that commences on Friday and extends till Sunday, heightened DWI patrols and sobriety checkpoints will be in place. Moreover, officials will issue tickets to drivers found using handheld electronic gadgets while driving during this enforcement window. Checks will also be conducted at retail outlets to prevent underage drinking and illegal sales to minors, as part of the campaign.
