Lindenhurst Man Faces Charges in Fatal DWI Accident in North Woodmere

A man from Lindenhurst is battling DWI charges following a fatal accident that occurred early Saturday morning in North Woodmere, which caused the death of his 22-year-old co-passenger. According to the Police, Aaron Cooper, aged 26, was inebriated when he lost his control and overturned his car around 4 a.m on Rosedale Road close to Lawrence Court junction. The individual accompanying Cooper died instantly on-site.

News 12 was informed by PSEG workers on Saturday afternoon that the accident resulted in the falling of a pole which was subsequently repaired by them.

Cooper has been pinned with charges for second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree assault, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and careless driving. Cooper was transported to the hospital after the accident. His arraignment will take place once his medical condition stabilizes.

The identity of the victim co-passenger had not been released as of Saturday evening.
