In Hampton Bays, New York, a motorist who veered off the road and crashed into a forest was arrested and charged with drunk driving on Saturday, as per the local police. Southampton Town police said the incident occurred around 5:26 p.m. near Red Creek Road and Upper Red Creek Road. The driver was reportedly driving erratically before the accident occurred.
Emergency services, along with the Southampton Police, helped extricate the driver who was trapped inside the car. Authorities identified the driver as 49-year-old Joseph Carrello from Hampton Bays. He was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention for injuries sustained from the accident.
Carrello was subsequently arrested and faced felony charges for driving while intoxicated, in addition to violations related to vehicle and traffic laws, according to the police.
