New Mexico State Police report that 40-year-old Michael Pineda was apprehended after he ignored a DWI checkpoint. As per NMSP, on December 28, Pineda drove up to the checkpoint at high speed and proceeded to speed through, resulting in a pursuit that exceeded 100 miles per hour. Authorities used spike strips and a PIT maneuver to eventually halt him. Pineda reportedly failed a field sobriety test. He was subsequently charged with enhanced DWI, aggravated assault on an officer, resisting an officer, and battering a peace officer.
