Two individuals, a man and a woman, are allegedly behind two of the most devastating vehicle crashes in Ozarks history and they’ll be taking their cases to court. The man, Steven A. Jordan from Republic and the woman, Theresa Manetzke from Aurora, are both facing multiple second-degree murder charges for allegedly driving under the influence in separate 2023 accidents which resulted in a total of seven deaths.
Jordan, age 66, is a habitual DWI offender and has been charged with 12 felony charges related to a fatal head-on collision in Springfield. He is set to stand trial on April 21, 2025 in Greene County. In an unfortunate twist, the victims of the crash were on their way to a funeral. It’s reported that Mr. Jordan’s blood-alcohol level was over twice the legal limit and had drugs in his system at the time of the accident. He remains incarcerated and all of his bail applications have been denied.
Manetzke, age 52, is also facing felony charges including four counts of second-degree murder. She’s accused of veering out of her lane and colliding with motorcyclists on Highway 39 in Aurora. Her trial is set for January 27 in Barry County. Authorities report that drugs were found in her system at the time of the crash. Manetzke has since posted bail and is currently under house arrest pending her trial.
On both cases, law enforcement has concluded impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs was a contributing factor in the deadly accidents.
