South Fulton Investigator Fired for New Year’s Eve DUI and City SUV Crash

A South Fulton Police Department CSI investigator, Najiyah McKinney, has been dismissed after she reportedly crashed her department-issued SUV on New Year’s Eve. In addition to this, she is facing a DUI charge. McKinney’s accident happened around 4:30 am, near a curve on West Paces Ferry when she collided with a curb, crashed into a pole and knocked down a mailbox.

McKinney had been working as a CSI technician for around a year when the incident occurred. Upon discovering the crash, Police Chief Keith Meadows launched an internal investigation, which resulted in McKinney’s dismissal on Tuesday morning. He highlighted the department’s stringent policy concerning the use of city vehicles and a zero-tolerance approach to DUI.

Although the police department’s investigation has concluded with her dismissal, McKinney is still facing the DUI charge. Chief Meadows anticipates that the damaged SUV will be written off.
