Estelline Man Arrested for DUI after Hitting Power Pole

In Estelline, South Dakota, the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a local man following the discovery of a crashed vehicle on a Wednesday evening. The incident was reported by a bystander who dialed 911 around 9:25 p.m. to convey news of a single-vehicle rollover incident on County Road 465 close to 192nd Street, approximately a mile north of Estelline.

The driver, who wasn’t present when the 911 call was made, reported the incident himself while officers were still at the scene. It was established that the pickup truck, heading north, had swerved off the lane into an eastern ditch, striking a power pole before landing on a culvert.

Medical personnel from Estelline Ambulance attended to the driver for minor injuries, after which he was taken into custody for driving under the influence (DUI). An investigation into the matter is currently being carried out by the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office. BES Towing was on hand to recover the pickup truck.
