In Beaumont, Texas, a tragic accident involving a suspected drunk driver claimed the lives of two fathers, one from Tyler County and his daughter. James Means, 39 from Spurger, his daughter Cicillia Means, 12, and Allen Wesenberg, 37 from Warren, lost their lives in the fatal accident. Also caught in the wreckage was Wesenberg’s son, Aiden, who suffered serious injuries and required surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital.
The elder Wesenberg and his daughter were riding motorcycles with children as passengers when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver, Brenon Proulx of Silsbee. Proulx is now custody, facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
The disaster provoked an outpouring of support, with a GoFundMe page set up to aid the Wesenberg family. Aiden has since returned home, as announced in a post by his mother on Facebook. Services for James and Cicillia Means will take place on February 8 and 9, 2024.
Counselors and youth pastors from the community have been made available for students, as the Spurger school district grieves the loss of student Cicillia Means. The ongoing investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Proulx is currently imprisoned, and his bond is set at $160,000.
