DUI Car Crash Spans 400 Ft in Tolland: Police

State police reported a serious car accident on I-84 on Sunday that left a vehicle destroyed.

The incident occurred on January 23, 2024, at 12:42 am EST in Tolland, CT.

The crash reportedly involved a drunk driver whose car was totaled, resulting in a trip to a local hospital.

Based on the crash report from the state police, the driver, a 39-year-old man from Tolland, was in a 2014 Audi S4 and was heading east on I-84, nearing Exit 68 when the accident took place. He suddenly veered off the right side of the highway, hitting a guardrail. He then swerved left, crossed the highway, and rolled up a center median embankment.

The car went out of control for a stretch of about 400 feet according to the crash report.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Rockville General Hospital. All parts of his vehicle suffered damage.

The police charged the driver with driving under the influence, failure to maintain the correct lane, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
