Md. Delegate Faces DUI Charge After Fruitland Traffic Stop

Charles Otto, a delegate from Maryland, was charged with DUI after being pulled over in Fruitland, Maryland on Friday afternoon. Around 5 p.m., a Fruitland officer stopped a GMC Envoy on northbound Route 13 at Pollitt Drive because the driver did not legally move over for an emergency vehicle parked on the shoulder. The officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol from Otto and in his vehicle. After supposedly failing several field sobriety tests, Otto was charged with multiple offenses, including DUI, DWI, drinking an alcoholic beverage in the passenger area of a vehicle on the highway, driving without required license and authorization, and driving with an expired license. At the scene, Otto was released to a sober driver.
