Charles Edward Dail III, a resident of Cary, was sentenced to the maximum prison term of 81 months on Wednesday, following a fatal accident in March that resulted in the death of a young female motorcyclist in Wake County. The accident, which occurred on Holly Springs Road on March 6, led to the indictment of Dail on multiple charges including felony death by motor vehicle, DWI, and failure to yield during a left turn, according to court records.
24-year-old Gabrielle “Gabby” Nora Hamed, also from Cary, lost her life in the collision when a car made a left turn in front of her motorcycle, as reported by her family and court records. Dail, aged 64, faced additional charges related to possession of an open alcohol container in a passenger area and carrying a concealed handgun while consuming alcohol.
Dail’s sentencing of 6.75 years encompasses all the crimes specified in the indictment according to legal documents. Hamed, who spent most of her life living overseas as part of a military family, moved to North Carolina in 2015. Her obituary highlighted her profound love for cars and motorcycles, detailing how she realized her dream of owning a motorcycle after passing her motorcycle class and purchasing her Honda CBR500R. Hamed held an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology. The obituary further states that she is deeply missed and will always be remembered by those who knew her.
