Third Officer Resigns over DWI Scandal in Albuquerque Police

The spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department has confirmed that yet another officer related to the department’s DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) unit probe has resigned. As per spokesman Gilbert Gallegos, Officer Harvey Johnson decided to step down a day before he was to meet with the Internal Affairs division.

This brings the tally of officers resigning due to this investigation to three, as Honorio Alba Jr. and Justin Hunt had quit in February.

The ongoing investigation into the DWI unit revolves around allegations of officers accepting bribes to dismiss DWI cases. So far, six officers have been suspended, with three among them opting to resign. However, no formal charges have been filed yet.
