Tampa Woman Charged for DUI Manslaughter: FHP Reports

A woman from Tampa, Florida, has been arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter following a fatal three-vehicle collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The accident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, involved the woman and an unidentified driver both running a red light on Hillsborough Avenue.

The two motorists, driving a Dodge Journey and a Honda Odyssey respectively, collided with a Dodge Charger operated by a 24-year-old man from Jacksonville. The latter had the right of way and entered the intersection under a green light, striking both vehicles.

Following the initial collision, the unidentified driver fled the scene. The Tampa woman’s car overturned and the man from Jacksonville’s vehicle halted after spinning. A passenger in the woman’s car was partially ejected during the rollover and died at the scene. Neither the woman nor the Jacksonville man sustained injuries.

Law enforcement is appealing for information on the Honda Odyssey, which likely has damage on its passenger side. Reports can be made to the Florida Highway Patrol or Crime Stoppers.
