The Eureka Police Department has arrested a man from St. Clair on the suspicion of drunk driving after he was allegedly caught exceeding the speed limit on Fifth Street. It was reported that he was driving at 73 mph in a zone with a 40-mph speed limit.
Around 10:45 p.m. on December 14, a patrol officer noticed a 2011 Nissan Sentra reportedly speeding towards the east on Fifth Street. The officer halted the vehicle in the parking area of the White Castle restaurant located at 78 Hilltop Village Center Drive.
The accused man supposedly failed the field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. He was transported to the Police Station where he registered a blood-alcohol content of .136 percent, which is well above Missouri’s legal limit of .08 percent.
Later, the man was released to a sober driver ahead of his summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court. He faces charges of alleged DWI and speeding, as revealed by Captain Michael Werges.
